It was never about looking good in a photograph. It was about
feeling comfortable enough to be yourself. Everything in this
session is built around that one idea.
No two sessions look alike, because no two people do. These are made the same way yours would be — by watching, waiting, and photographing what’s actually there.
The Rediscovery Session isn’t a shoot you turn up for. It begins long before the camera comes out and continues long after it’s put away — with a questionnaire, then a conversation, so that by the time we photograph you, we aren’t strangers.
There’s no direction to smile, no list of poses to get through. I watch, and I photograph what’s actually there. What comes back are portraits that feel honest, intimate, and unmistakably you.
It’s built for one person at a time. Whoever you are outside of the roles you carry — parent, professional, the dependable one — this is the space where you get to put them down.
Seven things, every session, without exception.
A few honest questions, answered in your own time, before we ever speak.
We talk properly — so the camera isn’t the first time we meet.
No poses to hit. I watch, and photograph what’s actually there.
Long enough to stop performing. Short enough to stay present.
Edited one at a time, by hand. Yours at full resolution.
Yours alone, to keep, download, and share if you choose to.
What I noticed about you during our time together, written for you.
A short discovery questionnaire arrives the moment you book. Answer it whenever you like.
A real conversation before the session — what you’re hoping for, where we’ll shoot, what to wear.
Two to three unhurried hours. No posing, no direction to smile. You settle, and I work.
25 hand-edited portraits in a private gallery, with a written reflection on what I noticed.

Photographing people for over a decade — commercial work, filmmaking, theatre, retreats.
For over a decade I’ve been photographing people — but what has fascinated me has never been the photograph. It’s always been the person standing in front of the camera.
Commercial projects, filmmaking, theatre, retreats, and countless conversations with people from very different walks of life. Every experience was different. One thing stayed remarkably consistent: people changed the moment they noticed the camera.
That observation has stayed with me since my college days. It made me realise the challenge was never about looking good in a photograph — it was about feeling comfortable enough to be yourself.
I’ve learned that meaningful photographs have very little to do with asking someone to smile. It begins with listening, building trust, and creating a space where people feel seen without judgment.
I believe every person is photogenic — not because of how they look, but because of who they become when they no longer feel the need to perform.
If my photographs help someone see themselves with a little more kindness than they did before, I’ve accomplished far more than capturing a beautiful image.
Maybe you looked too serious.
Maybe your smile felt forced.
Maybe you liked how you looked, but something still felt… missing.
I’ve felt that too.
Not because the photograph was bad.
Because it only captured what was visible.
I’ve always been fascinated by the difference between who we are and who we appear to be. Spend even ten minutes with someone, and you begin to notice little things.
The way they light up when they talk about something they love.
The pause before they answer a difficult question.
The laugh that arrives unexpectedly.
The quiet confidence that appears when they stop thinking about how they’re being perceived.
Those are the moments that stay with me.
Not because they’re dramatic. Because they’re real.
That’s why I don’t think of my sessions as photoshoots.
Sometimes we don’t even talk much. We simply spend enough time together that the camera slowly becomes unimportant. And somewhere in between all of that, something changes.
People stop trying to look good.
They start feeling like themselves.
That’s the moment I’m waiting for.
The photograph isn’t the goal. It’s the reminder — of who you were when you forgot you had to perform.
That’s what I hope you take home.
Not just images you’ll love looking at.
At the end of every Rediscovery Session I write you a personal reflection — not a description of the photographs, but of the person I spent the afternoon watching. What you do when you forget you’re being photographed. What softened. What I noticed that you may not have.
Most people tell me it’s the part they reread.
I got to know Swaraj had begun doing photoshoots of people. I had known him and his work for some 18-ish months by then. His perspectives to look at the world through his camera lens had always fascinated me. Since he is also a cinematographer, his clicks always tell a story.
I asked him if he’d do my photoshoot…if he’d help me rediscover
myself through his camera lens. It took a while to figure out the logistics since we’re in different cities. But we did figure it out. And finally last month, I had my photoshoot. It was also my FIRST ever official photoshoot.
The pics you’ve been seeing, the radiance, the change, the glow, the confidence, the realness — it’s all because Swaraj didn’t make me feel even for a bit that I was being captured.
Due to body image insecurities, I’ve never been the one who feels comfortable in front of a camera. But he has this innate ability to help people be okay with absolutely who they are. And that instantly makes you comfortable in being yourself, even when there’s a photographer standing in front of you.
Another rare-to-find skill that Swaraj has is clicking the absolute best candids while you’re talking, looking here and there confused, wondering what pose to give…he would just capture you without asking you to pose like a model.
Moreover, when your self-doubts and overthinking mind takes over, Swaraj somehow knows how to bring you back to the moment without any rush. Rest, his camera lens does the magic.
Thanking him won’t suffice for what this whole process of photoshoot and beautiful photos brought out in me. So, I’m making an invitation to anyone reading this as my gratitude to him: If you feel lost and disconnected with yourself, allow yourself to be seen through his camera lens. Just have a conversation with him. He has been capturing the world for more than a decade. What began as his passion is now his profession. Tell him what you’re going through and what you wish to rediscover. (Btw, my brief to him was all over the place. Yet he got it right.) He’ll tell you the next steps. And if not anything, you’ll still get to have a conversation with one of the kindest and brightest human beings. Win-win either way.
Swaraj is a truly exceptional photographer. Few years back he did a photoshoot for my 3-year-old nephew, and as anyone with kids knows, getting them to cooperate for pictures can be a challenge! Swaraj handled it brilliantly. He took the time to build rapport and become my nephew’s friend first, gently trying out some fun poses.
Even when my nephew inevitably threw a few tantrums, Swaraj
stayed patient and composed. With his incredible vision, he seamlessly turned those unpredictable moments into stunning candid captures.
His talent doesn’t stop with kids, I am very camera shy and struggle with posing, yet Swaraj has effortlessly captured some of the best candid photos of me over the years. His creativity, patience, and artistic intuition are truly unmatched. I couldn’t recommend him more!
We have worked with Swaraj for one of our Slowcations in the Kodaikanal. He was there for five days and understood the assignment very well. Worked as a teammate, took real interest in capturing the moments and the results were amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed working with him.
Swaraj as a photographer is a fun person. He makes the subject comfortable and lets the person experiment. He makes the overall session super warm, lively and captures the most authentic moments.
Some people capture photographs. Swaraj captures souls.
From the moment the camera came out, I never felt the pressure to be perfect. Swaraj gives people the freedom to laugh, to be awkward, to be quiet, and simply to be themselves. In a world where everyone is constantly trying to fit into expectations, he reminds them that being authentic is enough.
When I looked at the photos, I didn’t just see beautiful images—I saw moments, emotions, and a version of myself that I often forget to appreciate. That’s a rare gift, and it’s one not many photographers possess.
Thank you, Swaraj, for creating an experience that feels effortless, safe, and genuine. His kindness, patience, and passion shine through every frame. These aren’t just photographs I’ll keep; they’re memories I’ll carry in my heart for years to come.
If you’re looking for someone who doesn’t just take pictures but makes you feel seen, valued, and beautifully yourself, there’s no one I’d recommend more.
The photographer who won’t ask you to pose. He will click the best of whatever mood you’re in. I remember telling him ki mera left angle jada acha aata h and he responded ki be yourself and he actually clicked the beautiful emotions of me. I have a very smiling picture and a sad picture of me clicked by Swaraj and I can say he will ask you to be yourself and capture that emotion perfectly visible in that photograph.
